Esme Powrie

Esme first started dancing with Strictly Stage Theatre School formerly known as Kidz Academy when she was just 6 years old, and from there her passion for dance has grown. Esme currently attends Ballet, Tap, Modern, Commercial, Fast Track Elite and Advanced Musical Theatre classes at Strictly Stage alongside teaching.

Back in 2013 Esme was awarded a scholarship from Kidz Academy just before taking her love for dance to the next level and leaving school to study it full time. Esme went on to study at the Jellicoe Theatre where she left with a Level 3 BTEC in Dance. In 2018 Esme graduated from Arts University Bournemouth with a FDA Foundation Degree in contemporary dance and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Performing Arts (Dance). Esme is looking at returning to university in the near future where she will gain a PGCE Teaching Degree and from there start a career in teaching Performing Arts full time.

Over the past few years Esme has trained with a number of different choreographers and dance companies such as; Russell Maliphant, Frantic Assembly and Akram Khan. As well as performing in shows such as AvenueQ, A Chorus Line and being lucky enough to perform with the professional immersive theatre company ‘The People Pile’. Esme has also taught at a variety of different summer schools including workshops at Pavilion Dance.

Esme feels very privileged to have been given a job working with Strictly Stage Theatre School doing what she loves best. Esme loves being able to see students improving and having as good of a time at Strictly Stage Theatre School as she has done for the past 18 years. Esme can’t wait to see and be apart of all of Strictly Stage Theatre Schools upcoming success.
